Paul Hastings has bolstered its London office with the addition of two partners in the space of a week. The partners join from CMS and Morgan Lewis & Bockius.
The firm has hired M&A partner Tom Cartwright who joins from Morgan Lewis & Bockius where he spent the last eight years, according to his LinkedIn.
Cartwright advises several leading U.S. private pension plans, and represents a number of private equity-backed companies and other corporations in the U.K. and internationally on private equity investments and M&A transactions.
Arun Birla, chair of Paul Hastings’ London office, said the firm was “poised for continued growth”, with “continued investment in areas of strength including M&A, private equity and finance”.
Within the space of a week, the London operation has also hired Jason Brooks to its structured credit team from CMS, where he was a partner in the financial services and products group for over six years, according to his LinkedIn.
Brooks has significant experience advising investment and retail banks, financial institutions and corporates on derivatives and structured products, particularly on derivative-linked and asset-based securities matters.
Seth Zachary, chairman of Paul Hastings, said his hire was a “strong addition”, adding: “Our clients require innovative thinking and timely advice in the wake of today’s uncertain markets – and they require seasoned specialists to help them maintain growth sustainably.
Brooks added: “Paul Hastings’ strong growth in London – coupled with existing market dominance in areas like CLOs – demonstrates the firm’s ambition for the future, and I am delighted to be a part of it.”
The boost in hires, which are the first of the year for Paul Hastings in London, comes in the wake of the firms substantial growth in the City which saw revenue increase by 41% last year.
A spokesperson for CMS said the firm wished Brooks “all the best”.
Morgan Lewis did not provide comments at the time of publication.
