A former Latham & Watkins London partner has been killed in a cycling accident.
Shatha Ali died in a traffic collision on Tuesday morning in Holborn, according to reports.
She became a partner at Latham in 2018, having been of counsel at the firm previously, then left in 2021.
Latham London managing partner Stephen Kensell said in a statement on Friday: “We are shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passing of our dear friend Shatha. She was a kind and compassionate person, a selfless team player, an outstanding lawyer, and a terrific mentor.
“Our hearts are with Shatha’s family and friends at this unimaginably difficult time. Her generous spirit, warm personality, and, most of all, friendship, will be greatly missed.”
Ali’s practice focused on transactional and regulatory advice relating to over-the-counter derivatives and structured finance transactions, and related insolvency and dispute resolution issues, according to a spokesperson at the firm.
