Allen & Overy has hired a partner from Latham & Watkins in Silicon Valley, as it continues to strengthen its presence on America’s West Coast.
Lisa Nguyen joins A&O’s litigation and intellectual property practice, and becomes the firm’s 39th lateral partner hire in the U.S. in the last 24 months, according to a statement from the firm.
Nguyen joined Latham in Silicon Valley in 2011, becoming a partner in 2016 according to her LinkedIn profile.
Prior to this, she spent four years as an associate with Wilson Sonsini Goodrich and Rosati – also in the region.
The move comes at a time of rapid growth for A&O in the U.S. The firm opened a Boston office last week with the hire of five life science litigators from Goodwin Procter.
Earlier this month, the firm added restructuring partner Robin Spigel to its New York office – with Spigel joining from Baker Botts.
On the West Coast, A&O opened offices in San Francisco and Silicon Valley in 2021 with a seven-partner team hire from White & Case.
In January this year, the firm relocated Karen Seward, head of global litigation, to the region. Seward is based across the San Francisco and Silicon Valley offices.
A&O’s U.S. senior partner, Tim House, said: “We are thrilled to accelerate our goal of building a truly scaled and high-quality patent litigation offering and continue our expansion in Northern California with the addition of Lisa Nguyen.”
