A Black woman who was fired from her human resources job after complaining about managers’ alleged racist and sexist comments has been awarded $925,000 following a jury trial in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey in Camden.

The jury awarded $325,000 in compensatory damages and $500,000 in punitive damages to Marshelle Hightower, who brought claims against Ingerman Management Co. of Collingswood and CEO Brad Ingerman for alleged violations of federal civil rights law and the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination.
