Former Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer senior partner Edward Braham has been appointed the next chair of global investment manager M&G.
According to a statement by M&G on Thursday, Braham will take up the role on 14 March 2022.
He served as Freshfields senior partner from 2015 until 2020.
A statement by M&G said Braham will take over from Fiona Clutterbuck, who has been interim chair since January 2021, and will now resume her role as senior independent director.
The appointment has been approved by the PRA and FCA, the statement added.
Braham said: “It is a privilege to be joining M&G at this point in its history. M&G’s capabilities, along with its reputation as a responsible and thoughtful investor, provide the foundations for long-term success, for the benefit of all our stakeholders.”
Prior to his election as senior partner, Braham was the firm’s global head of corporate.
He is the latest senior management figure at the Magic Circle to leave for a major in-house role.
In January, former Linklaters managing partner Gideon Moore joined Natwest group as chief legal officer and general counsel. This followed the moves of former Linklaters senior partner Charlie Jacobs to JP Morgan.
