Brazil’s Lefosse has snagged a partner for its insurance, reinsurance and private pensions practice—the latest in a string of ambitious hires as the corporate firm builds out its multi-disciplinary capabilities.
The addition of Luciana Dias Prado, who joins from Brazilian rival Demarest Advogados where she was a non-equity partner, raises Lefosse’s partner count to 57.
“Luciana brings recognized expertise in the insurance, reinsurance and private pensions sector to reinforce our full-service strategy and expand our regulatory and transactional coverage in an important and fast-growing sector in Brazil,” said Lefosse managing partner Rodrigo Junqueira.
Prado has over 20 years of experience consulting on regulatory and corporate matters, investment structuring, financing and strategic litigation related to the insurance sector, as well as pension plans.
In 2022 alone, Lefosse has either recruited or promoted 14 partners as the firm seeks to build out services and cement a spot as a go-to adviser for international law firms and other clients in Brazil.
“Lefosse is a firm on a clear upward trajectory, where I can use my experience to make our insurance, reinsurance and private pensions work as strong and prominent as the firm itself. The collaborative aspect between partners and practices also proved to be essential to my move, as insurance market professionals are always working together with teams from various areas of law,” said Prado.
Demarest managing partner Paulo Coelho da Rocha said the firm wishes Prado all the best. The Brazilian firm currently has 77 partners. “Our insurance practice remains strategic for the firm, with a strong team of three partners and more than 20 lawyers and trainees delivering excellence to our clients,” Coelho da Rocha said.
