Seasoned corporate and securities lawyer Tim McCormick has joined the corporate and capital markets group at Borden Ladner Gervais after more than 17 years at Bay Street rival Stikeman Elliott.
McCormick has extensive Canada-U.S. cross-border expertise in mergers and acquisitions, private transactions and debt, and equity financing in the capital markets for a wide range of high-profile and complex domestic and international clients across a variety of sectors, said the firm.
“His deep experience and impressive track record bring a new dimension to our existing bench strength,” said Prema Thiele, national leader of Borden Ladner’s corporate and capital markets practice group.
She said the addition of McCormick is also “an important step” in the firm’s goal of strengthening and expanding its M&A and capital markets capabilities across the country.
McCormick has assisted clients through all aspects of start-up, go-public and transformational transactions as well as ongoing compliance obligations and governance matters, Borden Ladner said.
His clients have included mining companies Vale SA and Alacer Gold Corp. as well as companies in other sectors such as John Deere Financial Inc., Telesat, Mood Media Corp., and exactEarth Ltd., according to an archived version of his former firm bio.
Stikeman Elliott did not immediately respond to a request for comment about McCormick’s departure.
Borden Ladner Gervais is Canada’s largest law firm with 800 lawyers and other professionals in five offices across the country.
